Crop Protection Association Health Food Summit : Healthy Food Healthy Planet Debate
The Crop Protection Association hosted a major debate on the future of farming and food production at the 4th Annual Healthy Food Summit in London on Monday 6 October.
The Chief Executive of the Crop Protection chaired the panel which included the following speakers :
Helen Browning - Farming Director Soil Association
Caroline Drummond - Chief Executive LEAF
David Stark - Vice President Consumer Traits - Monsanto
John Peck - Technical Manager - Northern Europe - BASF
The panel debated a number of global issues of importance to the food chain including population increase, water and land management, energy security and climate change. The panel also discussed the long term benefits which biotechnology might bring to agriculture and food production including healthy food development. The impact of the proposed EC Pesticide Authorisation Regulation on crop yields and food prices was also a key issue of discussion.
The conference was attended by a number of food industry representatives from the UK and around the world as well as academics, policy makers and journalists.
